Job Description Summary We are seeking a proactive and experienced Product Owner to join our Software Technology Solutions R&D team based in San Diego or remotely with occasional travel. In this key role, you will be responsible for driving and leading the product vision, strategy and roadmap for our software development platform. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, aligning features with measurable outcomes that bring value to our customers. Additionally, you will collaborate with various teams to understand clinical, legal, regulatory, and customer support requirements, ensuring product readiness and implementing a plan for regular releases. Product Owner The Product Owner for BD's cloud connectivity platform will play a valuable role for the Engineering organization. The primary responsibilities are: 1) collaborating with partners to understand customer and market requirements; 2) managing and prioritizing the product backlog; 3) developing detailed requirements, stories, and tasks. You will work with the product team to define and document feature requirements; work with beta customers to test and validate new releases; liaise with customers to ensure issues and defects are triaged, prioritized, and remediated; collaborate with the Product Manager to coordinate activities across the release train. Key Responsibilities Product Vision & Leadership: Provide vision and direction to the scrum team throughout the product lifecycle. Requirements Definition & Analysis: Develop clear product and feature scope documents to drive specifications and architecture, ensuring understanding of objectives and priorities for the product owner and development team. Backlog Management: Prepare and prioritize the product backlog to align with the product vision and business value. Stakeholder Communication: Keep clients and collaborators informed on product status and lead product release plans, setting expectations for new functionalities. Project Management & Dependency Oversight: Lead impediment mitigation, governance for change management, adjust plans as needed, and manage dependencies to enable Release/Sprint Goals. Skills and Experience Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field Master's Degree Preferred 3+ years of experience as Product Owner or related roles 3+ years of experience with PaaS or SaaS products Strong understanding of cloud computing, APIs, and developer tools Familiarity with product management tools (e.g., Aha!, Jira) Effective communication and collaboration skills Self-motivated with the ability to work in team settings Good organizational and time management capabilities Experience with Agile practices and principles Analytical and problem-solving skills Creative thinking with a focus on product improvement Understanding of product feature prioritization Involvement in product roadmap development Work Environment & Additional Information BD prioritizes on-site collaboration to foster creativity and effective problem-solving.
