Job Title: Procurement Category Manager

Job Type: Contract (4–5 months)

Pay Rate: $75/hour – $85/hour

Location: Remote (California-based candidates preferred)

Duration: Through January 31, 2025

Job Overview

We are seeking a Procurement Category Manager to lead strategic sourcing and contract negotiation activities across a wide range of business functions, including technology, HR, finance, consulting, and operations. This is a remote contract role supporting procurement functions across global teams.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in supplier negotiations, cost analysis, risk management, and cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Sourcing

  • Develop and execute category-specific sourcing strategies
  • Lead RFP/RFQ processes, vendor selection, and supplier onboarding
  • Manage and negotiate procurement agreements, including MSAs, SOWs, and amendments
  • Perform price and rate benchmarking, total cost analysis, and ROI assessments
  • Recommend cost-saving initiatives and alternative sourcing solutions

Category Management

  • Own category strategy and execution for assigned spend areas
  • Provide internal consulting on market trends, benchmarks, and supplier innovation
  • Facilitate procurement processes and align sourcing initiatives with business objectives
  • Educate stakeholders on sourcing best practices and procurement policy

Supplier Relationship Management

  • Manage vendor performance, compliance, and service-level agreements
  • Lead supplier reviews and drive performance improvement initiatives
  • Mediate and resolve vendor disputes and contract issues

Contract Lifecycle Management

  • Ensure contract compliance, accuracy, and documentation
  • Coordinate redlining, negotiation, and execution of agreements
  • Track deliverables, pricing, and key contract terms across vendors
  • Provide reporting and insights to support leadership decisions

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant procurement or category management experience
  • Proficiency with sourcing platforms (e.g., Coupa or equivalent)
  • Strong background in contract negotiation, vendor management, and risk mitigation
  • Solid understanding of pricing models and cost structures
  • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills
  • Comfortable presenting to senior stakeholders and executives
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in high-growth or technology-driven environments
  • Prior work with publicly traded or global organizations
  • Familiarity with procurement frameworks for IT, HR, and professional services

Additional Details

  • This is a remote position; candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Strong preference for candidates with availability through January 2025

Compensation

Hourly Rate: $75 – $85, depending on experience and qualifications
