Job Description

As our Marketing & Communications Manager, you will play a vital role in ensuring effective communications and operational efficiency for the Psychonomic Society (PS). You will work closely with the Executive Director and senior staff to execute strategies that improve the member experience and lead to meaningful engagement and increased membership and involvement. The incumbent employs principles of project management and continually seeks to maximize efficiencies, utilizing a suite of software applications to consistently produce high-quality work- anticipating needs and delivering on time and within budget. Conceives, creates, refreshes and manages assets to support the Society's initiatives while integrating a cohesive approach using a variety of modalities and channels. The Marketing and Communication Manager organizes and documents workflow for annual initiatives from conception to output with an emphasis on outbound communications, social media and the evolution of the PS website, ensuring consistency across products, programs and services. Key Responsibilities and Duties Communications & Administrative Support : (10%) Supports the development of presentations and provides editorial support and proofreading services to ensure accuracy in notifications, reports, announcements, newsletters, and social media. Develops, organizes, and provides access to all marketing assets and project plans. Interfaces with committees, members and member services in a professional manner. Annual Meeting Support: (20%) Manages daily recaps and outbound communications. Ensures PS website, social media campaigns and marketing assets are kept current. Assists with preparation for the annual Awards & Business Meeting ceremonies and related events. Organizes and supports student volunteers and social media ambassadors at the PS Annual Meeting including recognition of their contributions and the distribution of stipends. Builds and maintains relationships with PS exhibitors. Marketing & Communication Initiatives: (70%) Aids in the development and implementation of marketing campaigns to support various goals and initiatives; developing and maintaining the marketing calendar for all activities across PS including new and existing membership engagement initiatives. Deliverables include graphic design projects for the PS website, digital, email, print, paid/organic social, newsletters, storytelling/brand stories, infographics, reports, presentations, exhibits, advertising, and curation/creation/editing of text, memes, photo, GIF, and video assets. Works closely with the team to ensure that the PS website is up-to-date, accurate, and engaging with all links and redirects functioning properly for a professional appearance. Makes recommendations for improving the aesthetics and functionality of the website and assists in its periodic refresh. In collaboration with the Leadership Team, designs visual and brand identities for new projects/programs as well as the adaptation and evolution of existing materials including the production of assets for the Society’s Annual Meeting. Stewards all collateral including photo and video repositories. Collaborates with the Digital Content Team to execute the social media strategy using an aggregation tool (currently Buffer) and manages PS social media accounts across approved outlets (currently LinkedIn, Facebook, X, YouTube, Bluesky), including content creation, writing alt text descriptors and enabling captions where appropriate. Monitors and reports on social media, website, and outbound communication performance using analytics tools, adjusting tactics as needed to improve reach, engagement and member satisfaction. Assists in planning, promoting and executing online and offline events including webinars, conferences, meetings, and collaboration with sister societies. Ensures that assets meet brand compliance and accessibility guidelines as well as optimization for mobile devices. Maintains accurate and targeted email marketing lists, leveraging PS platforms for new member prospecting and campaign execution. Conducts prospect research on occasion. Supports Annual Meeting exhibitors, advertisers, and sponsors; ensures that the Prospectus, promotional materials, signage, webpages, meeting mobile app, frontmatter of the Annual Meeting Abstract Book, and accompanying slide shows are fulfilled timely and accurately. Lays out graphics and content and provides proof reading services for all outbound communications (currently using Constant Contact) including The Psychonomic Scientist newsletter, a monthly publication. Supports certain committee work (assessed annually) and other duties as assigned. Travel: This position requires 1 to 3 domestic or international trips annually –approximately 10 days in total. Desired Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business or public administration, nonprofit management, marketing, communications, or a related field. Superior organization and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines. Establishes trust with the PS leadership, members, and other internal and external stakeholders. Record of excellence in written, visual, and verbal communication with strong attention to detail and accuracy. Comfortable with html and association content management systems (PS currently uses Your Membership) as well as Canva and or the Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and similar collaboration and project management tools. Experience developing and posting content for social media, pulling stats and related analytics at regular intervals to assess the need for course correction. Experience in event planning and coordination is a plus. Highest level of confidentiality and integrity in handling sensitive information. Compensation Package: The budgeted salary for this position is 65k-75k annually commensurate with experience. This is a fully remote position, and the incumbent will work from a properly outfitted home office, with equipment provided by PS. The Society offers 401k retirement plan with matching contributions after six months. These matching contributions increase on a staggered basis over the course of employment to a maximum of 10% of the employee’s annual earnings after five years. Similarly, the Society funds health insurance benefits starting at 50% of the premium and gradually increasing to 75% after five years of tenure. PS provides twelve days of vacation in the first and second years of employment, which gradually increases on a staggered basis to twenty-five days. Employees earn sick leave at the rate of 1 day per month with a maximum 30-day carry-over into the following year. PS observes thirteen (federal) holidays each year. #J-18808-Ljbffr Pws
